Rubatosis: The Spirit of Introspection and Medical Imaging is a skull shaped x-ray illuminator made with medical images of human ribs and pelvis. The eyes are prints of the inside of a human eye and represents the desire to look within ourselves and the discomfort related to seeing inside ourselves. The skeleton is a symbol commonly found in shamanic regalia as it represents the shaman’s visionary disembodiment, a traumatic initiation into shamanic practice.
