IGNITION, 2014
The spirit of combustion

Ignis is the most passionate of the elements. Her kiss leaves a sun burn, her embrace is cremation. She is the genie in the zippo who puts the kapow in the fireworks display. She was the filament in the lightbulb that went on over Edison’s head. She cooks dinner on the solar storms that cause northern lights. Her cradle was a volcano. Her whisper is a crackle and her voice is an air-raid siren. She was the cherry on the cigarette that burned the Moulin Rouge. She inspired the song that Emperor Nero fiddled while Rome burned to the ground. When she feels spontaneous she combusts. She celebrates with exploding cigars and she carries her lunch in a tinderbox. She sleeps in the pilot light, she only wakes to the wail of a fire engine and her dance is stop, drop and roll.

Ignition: The Spirit of Combustion is build form materials related to controlling fire. The mask form is a jerry can and its headdress is made of fireworks, birthday candles and shot gun shells. Tucked inside the mask is a working smoke detector which was set off during the masks empowerment ritual. Her jewelery is made of fire works. Her head dress is made of pyrometric cones and shot gun shells
